BHAVAN'S VIDYA MANDIR ELAMAKKARA OBSERVED READING DAY
Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Elamakkara observed ‘Reading Day’ on 19 June in memory of late Shri P N Panicker, father of the library movement in Kerala. In order to inculcate reading habits in students various programmes and competitions have been designed .Ms. Titya Ramchandran, a budding poet and an alumnus who likes to explore and engage in literary pursuits inaugurated the reading day celebrations in the morning assembly. Pledge on Reading Day was taken and Ishan Rajesh Menon of class VII delivered a speech in the assembly. Students from standard VIII and IX staged a skit based on the eminent writer Sudha Murthy’s ‘How I taught my Grandmother to Read’ . Mr.Sunil Naliyath ,writer and translator was the chief guest of the day who addressed the students of class VIII in the auditorium.He emphasised the importance of reading.
