The Book Barter Challenge -2022
The academic year 2021-2022 of Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara drew to a close for Std I - IX & XI on 21 March 2022, with yet another noble drive to sensitise students of the need to be responsible stewards of our planet by endorsing the value of 'Reduce & Re-use'.
The Book Barter Challenge - a School Social Responsibility Initiative mooted by the SEED club of the school was initiated as a wake-up call for students to show their concern towards the environment by reusing Textbooks. The challenge exhorted students to donate their used Text books that are in reasonably good condition to the 'Book Bank'.
Student volunteers from Std VII & VIII were entrusted with the responsibility of collection & segregation of donated text books. Students were also put in charge maintaining a record of the textbooks they received.
The class-wise list of books received were then shared with book donors who could walk in to school on 24th & 25th March to take their copies of Textbooks for the next academic year. Many book beneficiaries also contributed a nominal sum towards 'SSRI Nidhi', which will be utilised for the various School Social Responsibility Initiatives.
