De-stressing during Stressful Covid Times
As corona virus pandemic rapidly sweeps across the world, it has not only affected the mental state of students but teachers have also accumulated a high level of stress. This stress has often been accompanied by symptoms of anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbance. Therefore, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the emotional well-being of teachers is a major challenge that needs to be tackled by both the educational community and society in general. Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara in association Ernakulam Karayogam and Chaitram Emotional Support Centre - the social service wing of the Ernakulam karayogam organised a webinar series for Teachers on
De-stressing during Stressful Covid Times
on 31st October 2021. Dr. U Vivek, Psychiatrist, Renai Medicity, Kochi evaluated the emotional state of teachers during the current crisis, and during the reopening of schools. He enlightened the audience on various aspects of stress, the different kinds of work stressors and its consequences, the continuum of stress, burnout, the physical and emotional exhaustion, psychological consequences of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment during the recent times. This was followed by a fruitful question and answer session.
