International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026
Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026 by organising a range of awareness programmes.
The day's observance began with the morning assembly, where Avaneesh S of Class IX F delivered an inspiring speech on the ill effects of drug abuse. He emphasised the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, resisting harmful influences.
As special awareness session was conducted in the school auditorium . The session was led by the chief guest and resource person, Shri Sooraj Kumar M. B., Sub Inspector of Police, DHQ Kochi City, and Assistant District Nodal Officer, Social Policing Projects, Kerala Police. Addressing the students on the theme "World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses," he spoke about the risks associated with substance abuse, the impact of peer pressure, and the importance of making informed decisions. . The programme was attended by Vice Principals Smt. Bindu M. R. and Smt. Sumi Krishnakumar, along with Assistant Vice Principal Smt. Jyothirmayee P.
To extend the message beyond the school, students enthusiastically participated in a Cycle Rally with the slogan "Pedal for a Drug-Free Tomorrow." The campaign concluded with a street play presented at the open space in front of Devi Temple, Edappally, conveying the message "Walk the Right Path, Every Choice Shapes Tomorrow."
Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, celebrated Vanamahotsav 2026 with great enthusiasm, fostering environmental awareness and encouraging students to embrace sustainable practices.
The celebrations commenced with a special morning assembly, where Parthiv P. C. of Class X C delivered an informative speech on the significance of Vanamahotsav. He emphasised the importance of conserving biodiversity, and protecting the environment.
The programme continued in the school auditorium with Shri C. R. Neelakandan, noted environmentalist and social activist, as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the theme, "Roots for Today, Green for Tomorrow," he encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives and become active guardians of the environment.
